WASHINGTON – A group of WSU civil engineering students in Washington State has been practicing engineering and technology development for the past week.
The students will be taking a two-week internship program in the city of Seattle.
They’ll be using the training they’ve received to start building the next generation of drones.
The project will involve creating and flying a small drone to test its capabilities and then flying it around.
“We’re just getting started, we’re just going to do a lot of things,” said WSU graduate student Josh Schmitz.
He’s been working on the drone project since last summer.
The WSU students say the drones are intended to be used for commercial purposes.
Schmity says they’re looking for “very specialized, very innovative engineers” who have an engineering background.
The project is one of a number of initiatives underway at the university that will create a new generation of robotic systems for the city.
